Nystrom Reappointed to Alcoholic Beverages Commission
ANKENY, Iowa – By a vote of 50-0, retired Boone businessman Gary Nystrom was confirmed by the Iowa Senate on April 8, 2019, to a second term on the Iowa Alcoholic Beverages Commission. His five-year term will begin on May 1, 2019.
“I am honored to be given the opportunity to continue serving the people of Iowa on the Alcoholic Beverages Commission,” Nystrom said. “I look forward to working with my fellow commissioners over the next five years to ensure that the health, safety and welfare of Iowans is maintained in matters related to the manufacture, distribution and sale of alcohol.”
The Alcoholic Beverages Commission is comprised of five members chosen on the basis of manage rialability and experience as business executives. The commission partners with the administrator of the Iowa Alcoholic Beverages Division to provide insight and advice regarding public policy and business decisions.
Nystrom was a partner in Pritchard Bros. Inc. Plumbing and Heating in Boone for over 45 years before retiring in December 2017. He also served on the Boone City Council for eight years. Nystrom continues to be active in the community through volunteering, as well as serving on other committees and boards locally and statewide. He is a lifelong resident of Boone where he is joined by his wife, two grown children, and five grandchildren.
