The Alcoholic Beverages Division’s strategic plan for FY 2022 – 2024 defines a roadmap for continuous improvement, and an organizational strategy that serves as our guide.

Key Strategic Initiatives

  • Identify ways to increase service to Iowa businesses by demonstrating ongoing improvement in the distribution of spirits and brand inventory management.
  • Expanding upon our partnership with the Iowa Department of Revenue’s GovConnect Iowa.
  • Utilize information technology in licensing platforms, data analytics, operational metrics, and data management to enhance licensure, wholesaling, governance, and education.
  • Partner with other executive branch agencies and outside stakeholders to share resources to ease the burden of acquiring a license and the payment of beer and wine excise taxes.
  • Detect and address tax that are under-reported.
  • Modernize rules and regulations to align with the Governor’s goals of economic recovery and obligations creating a competitive business environment.

This plan strives to better serve our customers and the citizens of Iowa, meet the demands of an ever-evolving alcoholic beverages marketplace, and balance the three-tier system of alcohol with public health and safety for Iowa communities.
